Pancake tosser of the year!

Yesterday was pancake day and our salon competed in the (surprisingly competitive!) charity pancake race in Newbury. Local businesses take part in running a relay with pancake tossing in between. It's a fun afternoon, and brings back the feeling of community spirit, everyone can take part and I super enjoyed everyone's outfits. We were all really surprised we won over a team of minions! Personally I was going for the coveted 'tosser of the year award' but sadly that didn't PAN out, get it? (sorry...)  We did however win best dressed! I think it was the mixture of more mature judges, victory rolls and land girl outfits. Although we did get asked why we were dressed as umpa lumpers a lot to...

What's your favourite pancake filling?

Eyelash extensions & Coconut ice

I LOVE eyelash extensions. I'm lucky enough to have reasonably long eyelashes naturally but I would still have lash extensions constantly if I could afford to!
These are the extensions we offer at lkhair, check out the website for pricing. When I'm feeling particularly poor I only have a quick half an hour application, but this is plenty for me! The above picture is about an hours worth (each one individually applied). Once they are on I hardly even notice them, they are comfortable and reasonably soft, only word of warning would be if you wear glasses it's probably best not to go too long as you won't get them on!
I wear a liquid liner on my top  lid almost everyday and they seem pretty resistant to th No7 cleanser I use, although your technician will advise you on what's best, avoid oils is the main thing.
Paula Elvey is undoubtedly the best eyelash (and HD brow) technician I've used to date and is well worth a visit!

Almost forgot about the coconut ice! Every time I have my lashes or brows done I make Paula her favourite...old school coconut ice ! She says it's totally better than the shops! Not that I'm encouraging everyone to make her sweet treats when you visit, she'd be an elephant...

I also ordered more limecrime makeup from the velvetine range today in Pink velvet...super excited to receive it!

Have you tried eyelash extensions? What were your experiences? Have you ever made coconut ice?!

What Katie Did Lingerie

If you are not familiar with What Katie Did - you need it in your life! Anything from What Katie Did will have you feeling timelessly sexy and elegant (and a little bit naughty…).

From its faux vintage fully fashioned stockings and bullet bras to corsets and cosmetics, it has everything I personally need to turn me into the vintage vixen living in my head who only comes out when the children have gone to their Dad's and I have the time to pamper! I feel the need to secretly remove my ‘Josephine’ set occasionally just to remind myself that at some point I will be a woman, even if my other half will not appreciate my high waisted leopard print suspender belt even slightly (2 things that terrify him in equal measure.. ‘high waisted=paunch, leopard print=Bet Lynch) - even so it makes me feel good and he hates almost every piece of my clothing anyway so, sucks for him!

I guess what I'm saying is that I have weird taste in clothing (very weird…oh but not as weird as Helena Bonham Carter, he would definitely leave me!) but as long as I have fabulous undies underneath that floral blouse I  found in Scope I'm good to go and so should you be. Go buy that top-hat you've always fancied wearing on the high-street, or those dungarees (ok so even I wouldn't go that far…) but make sure you pop to What Katie Did first to make sure you have some truly beautiful undies underneath!

Have you tried What Katie Did for underwear? What did you think?
